I’ll be Absent – What do I do?

If you know that you will be absent one week, please let Mr. Brewer (mabrewer@seattleschools.org) or Ms. Levine (jclevine@seattleschools.org) know of your absence as soon as possible. This will allow us to fill and/or sell your seat.

If you are interested in joining us on a weekly basis, please check in with Mr. Brewer on Wednesday of each week for availability. In order to ride the bus each student must be provided with a written note that contains Student name, Parent/Guardian names, and emergency contact information.

Any questions about this procedure, please contact Mr. Brewer.

Jan. 7 Digest and Breakdown

The first night done! Overall it was very successful: 4 buses loaded and on the road at 302PM; Everyone made it to the mountain by 445PM; and given the snowy roads made it home by 1120 PM. Wow! Thanks everyone!

Some potential problems and things to consider:
(1) Load & Unload zones in the afternoon and the evening.
(2) Student Drop-Off in the morning.
(3) Lost & Found.
(4) Lessons.

(1) Load & Unload zones in the afternoon and the evening. Please consider driving on 30th Ave. from the SOUTH TO THE NORTH only. Please do not turn right onto 30th from 75th. See this Map for detail of 30th Avenue Traffic Pattern and this map for a detail of the Snow Sports Load Zone.
Read More about the Traffic Policy…

(2) Student Drop-Off in the morning. Please note and remember the following traffic patterns at all times.
IMPORTANT- You cannot double-park on 30th avenue.
IMPORTANT- Student drop-off is NOT allowed at any time in the back parking lot (behind the school).
Please use the following map: to identify additional Load/Unload Zones.

(3) Lost & Found. Read all about it here.
Make sure that you have your own equipment. At least one student reported taking home a mis-matched pair of poles. IF you also have a mis-matched pair bring to room 113 for a swap.

(4) Lessons. Remember the following: Red / Skiers or Blue / Boarders. Beginners at 530PM. Intermediate/Advanced at 730PM.
If you need help – Ask! Greeters in bright yellow parkas in the meeting area are there to answer your questions. The intent is to make your day go as smoothly as possible. Blunders occasionally happen. If one does—please tell Mohan immediately to remedy the situation.

Bus Assignments – 2011

Bus Assignments are as follows for the 2011 season:
Bus #1 47 people (43 + 3 Chaperones) 6TH 43 A-Pe
Bus #2 47 people (43 + 3 Chaperones) 6TH Po-Z,McCrea 20 7TH A-G,K 23
Bus #3 47 people (42 + 3 Chaperones) 7TH H-J,L-Z 38 8TH A-B 4
Bus #4 57 people (55 + 3 Chaperones) 8TH C-Z 55

The Snow Sports Staff needs to know where a student is at any given moment. It is easier to alphabetize participants based on capacity needs of the bus rather than spread students erratically based on friend preferences. They will see their friends in due time.

Looking forward to a great season. Thanks for your support.

Communication Regarding Leaving the Pass and Arriving at Eckstein on Friday’s

When we leave the mountain each night we will be using two principle sites for posting communications our whereabouts: this website (www.ecksteineagles.org/snowsports/) and the Snow Sports Twitter account (www.twitter.com/brewermaj).

If you have previously subscribed for this service there is no need to do so again. If you have not yet subscribed, then please do so by following the link here: Subscribe to Eckstein Snow Sports by Email

We are using integrated technology that allows us to post to the Snow Sports website and the Twitter page simultaneously via cell phone text messaging. You may sign up for a free Twitter account and request to follow Mr. Brewer’s page to receive updates. You may even receive these updates to your cell phone via text.
In any case, you should plan to check this website twice on Friday evening: once around 930 PM with a departure time and again around 1030 PM with an updated arrival time (estimated to be within 20 minutes of this second post).
Posts will be short and sweet because Twitter contains a 140 character limit for all posts. Each post will follow the same format, such as the sample below. Please familiarize yourself with the brevity of the message.
RE: EMS Snow Sports 2119 leaving. Expected ETA 2245-2300. www.twitter.com/brewermaj OR www.ecksteineagles.org/snowsports/ CB206.419.2529
Please note the following items:
1. Time in this message follows the 24 HR clock, so 2100 means 9:00 PM and 2300 means 11:00 PM.
2. ETA means Estimated Arrival Time; and
3. The Call Back (CB) phone number at the end of the message is a personal cell phone number and there is no need to call this number unless it is an emergency. You do not need to call the number to verify the ETA or complain if we are five minutes later than anticipated, remember that the time was initially an estimate.
Hopefully, this will eliminate the time that you will have to wait the dark cold parking lot prior to our arrival. Thanks for your patience.

Please note that the subscription service alone will not guarantee a timely delivery; you must actively check the website and/or subscribe to twitter for instantaneous posts. The subscription service has a lag of about an hour from posting on the website.

Thanks and we look forward to your signing up and continued interest. Contact Mr. Brewer (mabrewer@seattleschools.org) with any additional questions about this policy.
