Strengthening Families Class

Eckstein will be hosting a class titled Strengthening Families beginning March 1. This class is intended for parents/caregivers and youth ages 10-14. Click here to download the flyer to learn more about this program.

Parents will learn:

  • What to expect from their adolescent
  • Over a dozen tools for effectively parenting teens
  • How to set limits and show love during the pre-teen and teen years

Youth will learn:

  • How to resist peer pressure
  • How to handle angry feelings and manage stress
  • How to choose positive friends
  • Appreciation for their parents

Mohan Ski/SB Program CANCELLED for this Friday, January 14th

The Friday evening Snow Sports Program is CANCELLED for this Friday, January 14th. The pass is predicted to get over 1.5 inches of rain Friday with increasing rain Friday evening, the snow level will be 5500 feet. For safety reasons and also for the possibility of avalanche control, not to mention skiing in the rain all night, we are CANCELLING. This will be made up on Feb. 18, 2011. Mr. Brewer.

Wednesday, January 12, 2011 – Inclement Weather Update

This is an important message for families at McClure, Whitman, Hamilton, and Eckstein middle schools and Roosevelt High School. We hope you received our call this morning that schools are running on a two-hour late start due to road conditions. McClure, Whitman, Hamilton, Eckstein, and Roosevelt were scheduled for an early release today. However, because of the late start, these schools will release at the regular time today. To repeat, McClure, Whitman, Eckstein, Hamilton, and Roosevelt will release at the regular time today, there will be no early release this afternoon. Thank you.

Community Learning Center (CLC, aka OST) – Winter Quarter

Registration for the Community Learning Center Winter programs is now available.  Registration forms are due on Tuesday, January 11th. Barnes & Noble Fundraising Event to Benefit Eckstein’s Japanese Program

We are having a Book Fair from Thursday, December 2nd through Wednesday December 8th.  All goods purchased at any Barnes & Noble or online with Barnesandnoble.com will give money back to the Japanese Cultural Exchange, providing scholarships so all interested students have the opportunity to attend.  We are having a store event on Thursday, December 2nd from 5:30 PM until 6:30 PM at the University Village Barnes and Noble.  The group number you need to provide at checkout, either online or in person is: Bookfair ID 10358307.  Also, as an added bonus, students will be gift wrapping at University Barnes & Noble on Thursday, Dec. 2nd from 4 PM until 8 PM and again on Tuesday Dec. 21st from 4 PM until 8 PM.

Student Assignment Meetings, 6:30-8:00 p.m., 11/10–Roosevelt High School

Roosevelt High School (1410 N.E. 66th St):  Work has begun on developing the transition plan for Year 2 of the New Student Assignment Plan.  A series of regional meetings are scheduled, beginning November 8 in the Southeast.  Work has begun to set the rule for the continued phasing in, and the school district is seeking input from families, staff and community members.  Among the topics will be development of geographic zones for option schools; schools with over or under capacity enrollment, transition tiebreakers, transportation and high school open choice seats.  For the complete text click here:  Student-Assignment-Transition-Plan-Mtg2

To Eckstein 8th Grade Families -

Eckstein 8th Grade Families . . . don’t miss the 8th grade dinner, Tuesday, November 9, 2010 from 6-8pm!  The annual dinner is a great opportunity for 8th grade students and their families to socialize, connect with other Eckstein parents and enjoy some time together at the beginning of their final year at Eckstein. The dinner will be catered by the RAM restaurant and will take place Tuesday Nov 9, from 6:00 - 8:00 in the Eckstein cafeteria. If you plan to attend the dinner, please complete the RSVP by clicking here. You can also send a handwritten RSVP to the office if you like (download form Eckstein-8th-Grade-Dinner).  We hope to use this great celebration as an opportunity to bring nonperishable food goods for the Eckstein Food Drive.  Families are encouraged to make a voluntary donation of $15.00 for dinner and individuals are encouraged to donate $5.00.   Cash or Check only. Please make checks payable to Eckstein Middle School.  If you are interested in volunteering to help with the dinner, please indicate your availability through our online RSVP system.
