Eagle Readers Unite!

This Saturday, January 28, 2012, Seattle Public Libraries are sponsoring a City-wide Middle School Readathon. Visit one of the branches listed below between 11am and 5pm and log hours of reading for Eckstein (families are welcome to participate as well)!

Snacks and pizza will be provided and the Grand Prize is a Kube 93.3 sponsored dance!

Ally Condie Was Here!

On Friday, November 4th, Eckstein Library, was able to host Ally Condie, author of the acclaimed Matched Series.

Promoting her latest book in the series, Crossed, Ms. Condie spoke in front of a captivated audience of 6th and 7th grade students from Ms. Poort, Ms. Evans, Ms. Gedansky, Mr. Baughn, Ms. Norman and Ms. Feris’ classes.

The Eckstein library now has 5 copies of each book in our library. If you’d like to place a hold on a book today, just stop by the library

Thank you to Jessica Lucas (NE Seattle Public Library Teen Librarian) and Book-It Repertory Theatre for another fantastic performance of Danger Books!

Our 7th grade students were riveted by your performances and we are so grateful for professionals, like the actors from Book-It Repertory Theatre, who continue to help educate youth.

Eckstein Eagles salute you and celebrate our freedom to choose what books we’d like to read.

Danger Books!

Book-It Repertory Theatre, in partnership with the NE Branch of the Seattle Public Library, is bringing Danger Books! to the Eckstein Middle School 7th Grade Students. In order to best prepare ourselves for this event we are going to explore or personal reactions to controversial content as well as work toward understanding the reactions of others.

At Eckstein Middle School we teach our students about choice. We recognize that some of our books may include subject matter that would not be a good fit for all students and their families.
