During our study of Africa for the Eastern Hemisphere Museum, students created African Praise poetry. Here are some examples:

Here are some recent photos from our Writer’s Workshop Unit. The students were learning about revising, using an acronym called ARMS, which stands for Add, Remove, Move, and Substitute. The students created play-doh sculptures using the revising acronym, then we discussed how writing was like playing with play-doh. Students then practiced Adding, Removing, Moving, and Substituting in their rough drafts. 


Below are some photos from our second Writer’s Workshop publishing party, which was held in the library. We came back the next day for a book pass and lesson on how to choose a “just right” book.
