OUTREACH

· Provide transition support

· Prepare students for high school

· Identify special needs

· Present parenting information

· Connect with community agencies

· Screen for health concerns

· Survey students for responsive services

· Provide opportunities for social skills building

· Connect with students through non-classroom activities

· Coordinate building-wide academic assessments

 

ADVOCACY

· Advocate for individual student needs and rights

· Promote activities that address developmental needs of early adolescence

· Serve as representatives on School Leadership Council

· Participate in student concerns meetings

· Provide staff training

· Assist in development of academic support services

· Promote activities to ensure positive school environment

· Help establish safety procedures

· Coordinate with building and community leaders

· Raise awareness and sensitivity to critical student issues

 

INTERVENTION

· Provide individual counseling to students and families

· Provide group guidance services relating to special issues

· Facilitate parent/teacher staffings

· Refer for tutoring services

· Refer for psychological testing

· Provide consultation to staff

· Provide support services for school-wide crises (war, natural disasters, student death)

· Assist in the creation of specialized  academic programs

· Link students and families to community services

· Mediate peer conflicts

· Empower students by teaching self-advocacy skills

· Monitor academic achievement

· Develop, communicate, and monitor accommodations for  disabled students
