  • Mon: we began work on the colaborative writing phase of the Heroes of Modern Africa Project. Students from different periods co-write pages #

  • Thurs: more time to finish artifact captions and edit Heroes of Modern Africa wiki pages #
  • Fri: last day to work on Heroes of Modern Africa wiki pages in class #

Twitter Week in Review for 2010-02-28

  • Mon: updated planners, took topic choice survey for upcoming Modern Africa assignment, then began typing EH Museum Artifact captions #
  • Egypt Report Grades [1/2]: We are handing back grades for the Egypt Wiki report today. Students may do more edits to raise their grade. #
  • Egypt Report Grades [2/2]: After students do more edits on their wiki pages, they must tell a teacher when they are ready to be re-graded #
  • Tues/Weds: editing assessment (not for grade), more time to type artifact captions, then begin reading about Modern Africa #
  • Fall & Winter MAP scores were handed out in HR today. Ask your students for the report and a letter explaining the scores #

  • Tues/Weds (1/2): counselors are presenting the sign-up sheet for 7th grade electives. Look for a blue sheet to rank choices, due Feb 12 #
  • Tues/Wed (2/2): after subject selection sheets, we are looking through books to find ideas for the African artifact project. #
  • Important! Change in due date for 7th grade registration forms; the blue form is due this Friday, Feb 5. #
  • Thurs: more time to look through books to find artifact ideas. Remember signatures for Fri on EH Museum letter & blue 7th grade form #
  • Fri: students are reading classmate’s Egypt reports on the wiki and writing comments to celebrate their accomplishments. #

  • Tues/Weds: we are using electronic sources in the computer lab to research our Ancient Egypt topics #
  • Thurs: we are continuing to research in the computer lab, using both print and electronic sources. Research notes are due by the end of Fri #
  • Fri: last day of in class research about Ancient Egypt topics. On Monday we will begin writing the reports. #

  • Fri: we finished watching "The Mystery of the Nile" then began working on a map of Ancient Egypt #

  • Mon: we read and took notes about the scientific and cultural achievements of the early Muslims. We also reviewed for the Islam quiz. #
  • Tues/Weds: we are watching the National Geographic video "inside Mecca", which follows three Muslims while on the Hajj to Mecca #

  • Fri: we began reading about the origins of Islam and wrote sentences to show the meaning of vocabulary words #
